GAMEPLAY
- Teams will be split into group play (round robin format)--to be selected at random--and will play every team in their group.
- Up to (8) teams will qualify for the playoffs (subject to change year to year). Teams will be seeded according to overall record in preliminary play by bracket.
- Teams will play an appropriately seeded team from outside their group in the 1st rd. Teams will advance in a FIBA regulation playoff by bracket.
- Tie breakers will be determined by the following: Head-to-Head Record (if applicable), Total Point Differential, Quality of Wins, Coin Flip.
DETAILED RULES OVERVIEW
- Men's Elite and Men's Open will play FIBA modified rules incl. the following highlights:
- Games will be played in 9:00 min running quarters but period length is subject to change as needed.
- Different divisions may carry different formats depending on which rules they will use (i.e. Women's Open will play in 18:00 min halves).
- Stop clock in last 1:00 min 2nd qtr., last 2:00 min 4th qtr.
- Each team will be allowed (3) time-outs per game.
- Teams may advance the ball after a time-out in the 4th qtr and overtime periods but ONLY if they have not advanced the ball upon obtaining possession.
- Players will be allowed only (5) personal fouls before disqualification.
- Per quarter, only (4) team fouls are allowed before the other team is awarded (2) FT bonus on the fifth foul.
- THERE WILL BE NO FIGHTING TOLERATED. This is a goodwill tournament for Asian Americans to connect and compete. Anyone involved in a physical altercation will be ejected from the tournament immediately.
- Gameplay will be initiated by a jump-ball. The team who wins the initial jump-ball will be awarded the ball to begin the 1st and 4th quarters. Their opponent will be awarded the ball to begin the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Any tie-up will be a jump-ball staged in front of the nearest basket.
- Women's Open and ALL Girls and Boys divisions will play NCAA rules with 18:00 min halves.
REGULATIONS
- We are running on a very tight schedule. Teams must arrive to the gym on time. A 2:00 min warm-up will be given (when applicable) to each team that will start promptly at the scheduled game-time.
- After the 2:00 min warm-up expires, the clock will run. If a team does not have five players on the floor, the opposing team will shoot FTs, taking turns per player, per term of their respective shot-clock until the other team is ready. After 5:00 minutes, the team will forfeit.
- No jewelry is allowed during gameplay.
- All players must have matching shirts or jerseys with non-repeating numbers.
- Headbands, headwraps and accessories are allowed but may be subject to approval by tourney staff.
